MORGAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper in south Knox County recaptured the escaped Morgan County Correctional Complex inmate who apparently walked away from a work detail in the Frost Bottom area of Anderson County around 1 p.m. Monday, according to Tennessee Department of Corrections spokesperson Dorinda Carter. He was recaptured about an hour-and-a-half later.
Carter says Brian Lee, 31, is serving an eight-year sentence on burglary, robbery and arson charges out of Knox County.
When arrested, Lee was driving a truck, believed to be stolen, that belongs to the pastor of the church where the work detail was assigned, Carter says.
She says Lee will be placed under maximum security once returned to the Morgan County Correctional Complex.
Lee went before the parole board in August seeking early release, Carter says, but he was denied until 2011.
