ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – Anderson County authorities have deemed a Monday afternoon fire near Clinton suspicious.

Andersonville Volunteer Fire Department officials said crews were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Old Burrville Lane just before 3:00 p.m. for reports of light smoke pouring from the room.

Crews quickly arrived on scene within a few minutes and went inside to discover a small fire in a back bedroom near the electrical panel. It was quickly put out with minimal damage to the home.

According to Capt. Josh Alley of the Andersonville VFD, the incident appears to be suspicious because there was no power to the home and it was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Arson Unit was called in to take over the investigation.
