On my way into work this morning I saw $4.99 posted for a gallon of regular gas. The station across the street is out. I have been in amazement all weekend at how prices have shot up. I am relieved though, I filled up Friday morning before prices made it to the $4 mark. But the gage on my car won't stay at half a tank for long. It has me wondering what changes I'll have to make to afford gas which is at about $5 a gallon. What changes are you making? Maybe you're not taking your kids to school anymore. Maybe you're going to cut out Friday night dates with your spouse.  Maybe you're thinking about a second job. We want to hear how the high prices are forcing you and your family to make changes. Leave your comments at the top of the page.

Before you head out the door, here's a website that will give you a look at prices around the Knoxville area.

And don't forget to tune in to Volunteer TV throughout the day for the Pump Pricer Report. We'll try to get you the lowest prices around the region.

See you in the morning,

Allison

These gas prices are driving everyone crazy. I teach at a local elementary school and thought I would be finish with riding the bus to school nearly 17 yrs ago. Well I am reconsidering that now as a way to and from work. I have three children and just can't afford to drive everyday. I have heard that the US has the largest supply of natural gas in the world, why can't we convert to using this? There has to be something better for us all, I mean the stimulus checks we received are long gone now, and they really didn't make a dent in our pockets, because no sooner than we got them, prices of groceries and fuel bills increased.

out opf everyone i've asked,no one can remember when gasoline price has gone up so dramatically over a hurricane. (i.e. andrew 1992)even then, it only went up .50 cents or so if it did. my question is if our presidentia candidates "say" they're gonna lower gas prices, why can't the incumbant use the rest of his term to get the ball rolling that direction?

High gas prices are costing me food, medicne and medical care. I am disabled and my medical cost are about half of my income. I have had to stop taking some of my medicines and cancel doctor appointments to pay for gas and groceries.

I bought a Mazda that gets 36mpg it uses premium gas which a week ago I was paying 3.69 Friday I paid 4.89 that is 1.20 increase, more than that now.WE will be buying less grocies, we don't go out to eat or anything. I cook every meal at home, and plan trips to try to do everything at once. Which also can wear you out. I think this is terrible times. I have my house on the market so I can move from my farm where we have a garden and can food, to a place where we can at least visit our children. These are sad times, very depressing. We are fortunate that we have jobs, but it is sad when it all goes to gas, and taxes. People can't even afford MILK. I hate this. I don't even know what premium gas is now I am afraid to look. Plus my house won't sell because of the housing market and the banks going down.

When I found out about gas prices Friday, I had to limit my trip to the grocery store with only bread and milk, instead of the usual fresh produce groceries. You know it's bad when we have to change our diet to be able to afford to drive back and forth to work.
