I intended to write this yesterday. But you know about good intentions. Last Saturday, Mz Anne and I attended a party where we sat with some old friends and some new ones. One of the new ones is an Animal Science professor at the University of Tennessee. He and his wife told me that they were regular viewers. That pleased me. Then he asked me (strongly) to cook some pork and tell folks that it is impossible to get H1N1 flu by eating pork. He further pointed out that it does not help to talk about H1N1 flu if you follow that by saying, formerly known as swine flu. You see, it seems that those who produce pork are seeing their fine product in far less demand by folks who fear the "swine flu". Folks, you cannot get H1N1 by eating pork. I don't care how much you eat. It cannot be done. Following his appeal, I went home, removed a fine recipe for brown sugar pound cake (do not despair, it will return) and inserted a very good pork stir fry with an assortment of vegetables. I noted that I got the veggies off the salad bar at Food City so I didn't have to cut them. I noted that it was a good recipe to serve with rice. I noted that I liked it. Only at the last moment did I remember, almost as an afterthought, to mention why I had cooked pork in the first place. Thank goodness for this fine medium for me to make amends. Final message of the day: You cannot get H1N1 flu by eating pork, whatever that flu is called.
