I don't see what everyone is so worried about, if I want to carry my gun in the park, I'm gonna carry my gun in the park. I have yet to see any police posted at the entrance to any park frisking people for guns as they come in. So who's gonna stop me?

Why should permit holders be accused of doing something wrong in a park with a gun? When its the criminals who are doing wrong by carring it illegaly. Permint holders (DON'T ENDANER) lives, they are there incase others need (PROTECTION). Permit holders are proven that they can be law abiding citizens, to help and serve with the police departments around the state of Tennessee. It would be a big mistake to ban a permit holders gun in a park.

Everyone looks at the bad in having a gun in a park. To many CHILD PREDATERS are learking out and waiting for there next move. Not everybody is looking at the good in most people. A law abiding citizen with a gun permit can stop something like that from happening. Also you have to look at it in another view also. the police are not always around when you need them. By the time they showed up it will be to late for them to stop DANGER in its tracks. But with a permit holder can stop it right then and there.

Banning guns in parks means only the criminal element will have guns. I don't recall any incidents of children being shot by a permit holder. Park directors only see guns in parks as a problem so they will clamor for the city or county using the "opt out" provision. I think they should take a wait and see approach and realize the law abiding citizen with a carry permit is not the problem in their parks.

I can not see in my wildest dreams why you shouldnot be abel to carry a gun in or over a park road if you have a legel pirmit to carry

Posted by: John As long as a person has a handgun carry permit, and have gone through a gun safety class, I think the law abiding citizen should be allowed to carry a gun in a public park. When I think about the bear attack victims, I can't help but wonder if they could have protected themselves from the bear if only they had a legal gun on them.

Yes, if the guns are carried by licensed carry permit holders they should be allowed in parks. How is a public park any different than anywhere else? For instance....If my family is on vacation here in Tennessee and I am a permit holder and we drive through the GSM Nat Park from Gatlinburg to Cades Cove....am I now a "lawbreaker" just because I drove through the park with my legally carried firearm? Let have some common sense and think things through....not just have a "knee-jerk" reaction of..."Oh..Noooo... we don't want guns in parks.....!" Think, people, think!

Liz is so right. The only people it can hurt for me to carry my gun in a park is the people that would want to do me or my family harm.

My question is why shouldn't I have the right to protect myself and my kids in a park?I do not go to the parks now because of the type of people who like to hang around in them.As a permit holder and a mother of three I feel that I should be able to have that peace of mind.Permit holders are not wild gun slingers looking for a fight.we are just people who see the world as it really is,a dangerous place, and want to be able to protect ourselves.Police are not always where you need them when you need them.
