Do you think the database of people who hold state issued handgun carry permits should be closed to the public?

It is nobodys' business who has a carry permit. If everyone knew and you went on vacation what is the odds that if someone was watching you, when you left you get ripped off.

No! Gun permit holders are law abiding citizens. They went thru the trouble of getting a permit. Their names and personal info should not be available to the public and the criminals.

the answer to this is a big fat no,gun permit holders info should not be made public record you have all the crooks out trying to break in peoples houses to steal guns an go out commit hanis crimes, anybodys personal info needs to stay confidental the moral of the storie is if i wanted my personal info and personal life known i would get on tv an broadcast it.

If my name does not have to be in the phone book, then why should it have to be available in regards to a state issued handgun carry permit? Only the state and law enforcment need to know/have a list available to them.

Are you kidding?!! Yes, the database of people who hold handgun carry permits should remain CLOSED to the public. What is the logic behind letting everyone, including criminals, know where to find a gun? What is the up-side of opening the database to the general public? I don't have a handgun carry permit, but if I did, I wouldn't want anyone other than the proper authorities to know that I did! What a stupid idea....right up there with "let's make everyone's health records and/or financial info, or open to the public"!

Yes, the database of records should be closed to the public. To be issued a Concealed Carry Permit in TN you must attend a class, pass a written & shooting test, be fully fingerprinted, and go through a thorough back-ground check. The majority of Concealed Carry Permit Holders are law abiding. Having a CC Permit doesn't equate to being a criminal. Should we have a public database of everyone who has been issued a drivers license with all of their informtion available? I think not. We are losing too many of our rights to privacy.

NO. law inforcement only. I have already have had junk mail do to people finding out I have a carry permit.
  • by Ron Location: Louisville on Jun 16, 2009 at 05:00 PM
How about we let the crooks know who has guns and where they live. Records should be only available to those who need them for law inforcement.

NO THESE RECORDS SHOULD BE MADE PUBLIC,THEIR IS NO NEED FOR ANYONE IN THE PUBLIC TO CONTACT THESE PEOPLE.ITS IS THEIR RIGHT TO HAVE THESE PERMITS,THE PROPER OFFICALS HAVE THEIR INFO IF FOR ANY REASON THEY NEEDED TO CONTACT THE PERMIT HOLDERS,WHAT WOULD BE THE REASON SOMEONE IN THE PUBLIC WOULD NEED THIS INFO THANKS CHRIS
