"The little brown dog" is all she is known by right now.  We call the small 17 pound terrier mix that because we don't know her name.  Does she even have a name?  Does she have an owner? There are a lot of unanswered questions after she was dragged behind a pickup truck on Liberty Street on Tuesday, November 3rd.  Her owner, 45 year old Jimmy Lovell, was charged with animal cruelty after witnesses told police Lovell was dragging the dog by a rope on his hitch on the back of his Chevy.  Lovell tells the media he is sorry and it was an accident.  Lovell's girlfriend told TV reporters the dog was tied to the back of the truck and he forgot.  Either way, the little brown dog is recovering at UT's veterinarian hospital.  What do you think really happened? What do you think should happen to the owner?

If he did it on purpose, he should be punished. However, if it was an accident, it was a sad and horrible one. When I was a child, my parents put our dog in the boat hitched behind the trunk. Her leash was tied to the boat wheel and we assumed she was safe until a car flagged us down saying she was dragging behind us. My parents were horrified and we thought she was dead. Luckily, she recovered, but the lesson: NEVER enter a situation where that can happen!

He did not forget, he did this purposely...Someone should tie him to the back of a pick up truck and drag him for miles, but since we live in a world where no real justice is ever served, then he should be sent to jail for a long time for his retarded behavior.

Little Brownie's owner Jimmy Lovell should be charged with a felony under Tenn. law and pay the price of such idiotic behavoir. He forgot? Come on now, how stupid can you be? Sorry I have no sympathy because I am in animal rescue and see and hear horrid stories all the time like the monster in KY who hung his Golden Retriever. Would Lovell have tied an infant, child or an adult to the back of his truck? No. So why is he doing this to Little Brownie? He should pay a hefty fine and time in jail plus publicly apologize to this poor little creature. He knows better unless he absolutely has his head up his butt.
