Veterans Day to me is a day to remember all the veterans who served past and present. I had a chance to travel to Iraq in 2006 as an embedded journalist with the Army Corps of Engineers. We did stories on the rebuilding and reconstruction over there. I was in Iraq for 2 weeks and had the chance to talk with our soldiers over there. They have such passion for the job they do. At my last TV station I was the Army reporter, so I had the chance to work closely with veterans from every war since World War II. The patriotism veterans have for their country is something I always admire and hold to the highest regard. What does Veterans Day mean to you? |

My family and I have just had the experience of making Valentines for Veterans. We made up gift bags with handmade lap blankets and other personal items. My Granddaughter Abigail made cards for the veterans. These will be given out to Veterans in a Nursing Home in Groton NY. We had fun doing this and hope they will be as proud of this as we are to make them. I have family and friends that are Veterans and wish I could give each and every one of them a Valentine or just a hug to let them know that they are not forgotten. We also learned that there are women Veterans. Sometimes they are the ones who get left out. But in our hearts and prayers they all will remain.
