UPDATE: A Cutting Question?

*UPDATE*
I'm just adding a quick note to say thanks to all of you how sent emails, responded here on the blogs and called me.  Yesterday I had just about had it with my hair and called Salon Visage and said "Please tell me Chad has a cancellation today" .. sure enough he did! So my  next week appointment (which would have allowed me more time to ponder, debate and change my mind) was bumped up and I went ahead and got my hair chopped off!

It's still a TAD longer than I planned on having him cut it, but I wanted to see if I liked the "general idea" and go from there.  The two pictures I was combinging to make "my look" was a picture of Elizabeth Hasselbecks OLD haircut when it was short and the NEWEST version of Katie Holmes cut (the newest one with bangs).  We mixed up the two and added about an inch or so.  The next time I may take it up that inch so it will style more like I want .. we'll see!  Right now I'm enjoying the sassy feeling of having something more stylish than classic.  The change was good! Thanks for the push friends! I'll leave hte original blog posting so anyone clicking for the first time knows what we are talking about!

Hey Friends,

My question may sound so silly to some of you, but I'm asking anyway.  Here goes .... should I could my hair??

I'm not talking just an inch or two, because I need to do that anyway, I'm talking about 5 inches or so. I've had my hair short many times in the past and as long as it's a "good cut" I always end up really liking it. Usually when I decide I want to do something drastic my mind is made up, but this time around I'm not convinced this is what I want just yet.... so I need a little guidance :)  I have really enjoyed my hair being long but I'm sort of tired of it. I think that I need something NEW and SASSY!!

Before getting in this business I would never have really cared if anyone else liked what I did to my appearance. Because if you are happy with your own skin that's what matters, right??  That is still true but I do get nervous making a big change these days, because when you are on air, people can get really ugly sometimes if you do something to your appearance and they don't like it.  I've heard stories about people getting hate mail when they cut their hair, seriously!!  I never got hate mail, but I do remember getting a really nasty phone call in KY from a guy that was basically telling me I had a bad hair day when I wore my naturally wavy hair wavy one day.  I hung up on the phone thinking to myself, "Gee, does he think we don't know when we're having a bad hair day? Does he think we need a phone call to remind us?  How would he like it if every time he walked down the street someone reminded him that  he looked bad, haha!!  My point is that people tend to point out what they don't like much faster than what they do like.  So I'm always a tad nervous about doing something really different.  Regardless of your opinion, some people will really love it and others will really hate it, I know that and am okay with that. I just want some feedback!

Some of you will tell me that It depends on the cut I'm going for.  Well I do have several pictures printed and ready to take with me, but I'm not going to short hem to you I don't think.  That would take away some of the suspense if I do end up cutting it.  I'll just say that it would be shorter than shoulder length, but not short enough to give the required inches needed for "locks for love", it would be very classy, but also very stylish and fun!  I can also assure you that it won't be the "Beckham Bob".   If you don't know what that is then google Victoria Beckham Haircut. I'm not doing that because I don't like her haircut,  I think it's a super cute style, but the last time I cut my hair short 3 years ago, that is exactly the cut I went for (before she made it so popular and it was just called the angled bob).  That is the main reason, but I also don't want to do it because everyone else is getting that cut right now.  It's kind of  "The Rachel" of 2007.  Remember back when Jennifer Aniston cut her hair when she was on the TV show Friends and everyone flocked to salons to get her cut???   The "Beckham Bob" is the cut everyone is asking for right now, which is even more reason I don't want it.  I've always been like that.  If someone is cutting their hair a certain way I'm either gonna be first at getting mine cut that way or I'll take a spin on it without getting the exact same haircut.  I will tell you, It's tempting to not want it, because it's so cute and I really liked my hair when it was like that.

So, what should it be???  Leave it long or chop it off and have a new look for 2008?!?!  I'm thinking I need a new look.  After all it's just hair .. right!

Oh ... one more thing ... it's New Years Eve .... so Happy New Year!  Don't any of you even think of drinking and driving!  I will be safe at home ringing in the new year under the covers on the couch!  I'm working the afternoon shift New Years Day so if I get time I'll blog tomorrow and think of something fun to write for the first day of the new year

Stacy :)

Congratulations on cutting your hair. I know that it is sometimes a hard decision to cut your hair when it is long. I know that it would have been harder for you to have it cut if you had waited till next week. It looks good although when you said have it "chopped off" I thought it would have been shorter. It looks great and I think short hair looks good on you!

Short hair is sexy, looks more mature, and doesn't hide your face...

it's your hair do what you want, don't worry about what other people think.have a happy newyear

Stacy,my opinion on your hair is quite simple. Do not make your decision based on what others might think, good or bad. As you said,no matter what some will like it and some won't.You need to do what Stacy wants. If a viewer changes the channel just because of you changing your hairstyle,or sends you hate or unhappy email, then that viewer is not worth having anyway. And also as you and others have said,it's just hair and should you change it and don't like it or change your mind,it will grow back.I tune in to your newscast because of, you are good, you have a honest and warm character and you are also very pretty.

Go with the new look if you think it will do you good. I think perhaps a cut that ends up just below the hair line may work. Of course, I'm not exactly an expert on this topic.

I loved your hair when it was shorter like the picture that was posted on the WVLT website until recently. Good luck with trying to make a decision. I had the same issue a month ago, but it is just hair after all and it will grow back.

Posted by: Frank Murphy I think you look great with shoulder length hair. I was glad you grew it back after cutting it a few years ago. But if you have a good cut picked out, we'll support your decision. Just avoid the Britney Spears look.

Ooh, hair is a touchy subject! Well, coming from a guy stand point...guys like hair and we are scared of change. So my vote would be no. HOWEVER, like you said, it's just hair, and it's YOUR hair, if it's anything like mine, it will grow back in a matter of days so if you don't like it short then you just wait for it to grow back out. On the flip side, you might love it and so might everyone else. Not much help huh? Oh well. Don't worry bout me drinking and driving, I'll be counting down the minutes around the church altar tonight. Hope you and your hubby have a great New Years too!
