Today: Increasing clouds with a slight chance of afternoon rain or snow showers with highs around 40. Sunset: 5:44 Tonight: Clouds, a few snow flurries, and 23 degrees with cold breezes. It was 24 degrees at my back door this morning as I left for the TV station around 2:15. We'll make it above freezing today, but on the way there, you'll feel cold breezes and may even see a stray icy spot or two (especially due to freezing fog on some bridges and overpasses). Here in Knoxville, we may see a few snow showers this afternoon, but other locations within the viewing area will likely see some accumulating snow. Crossville and the Plateau, Harlan and SE Kentucky, Pennington Gap and SW Virginia, along with Waynesville and the mountains of Western North Carolina may see snow accumulations of up to an inch this afternoon. The coldest air of the season continues trudging our way. We'll have lows of 11 by Friday morning and a 13-degree reading on Saturday morning before we begin warming up over the weekend. We welcome your weather photos at weather@wvlt-tv.com. Oh, and leave us your comments, too. Thanks! Enjoy! Jim Freeman |
