MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- Blount County fire crews spent part of Saturday night working to put out a house fire on Butler Mill Road in Maryville.

The fire broke out around 9.

Fire fighters tell Local 8 News that the woman who lives at the home was sleeping at the time, but was able to get out safely. That's thanks to her smoke detector warning her about the danger.

It took crews about a half an hour to get the smoke and flames under control- but unfortunately the home was heavily damaged.

The woman will be staying with relatives.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
