KNOXVILL, Tenn. (WVLT) -- We have four restaurants that failed their inspections this week from the Knox County Health Department, in our look Behind the Kitchen Door.
Southern Graces, 7048 Maynardville Highway, score: 49
Creamers labeled keep refrigerated, but they were stored at room temperature. Strawberries in a cooler were moldy, and there were numerous fruit flies. The equipment and floors were dirty. The facility was closed until a wastewater leak in the kitchen was repaired.
Kentucky Fried Chicken, 5266 Millertown Pike, score: 59
Chicken kept at potentially hazardous temperature, five pounds were thrown out. Single-serve butter was stored in wet and dirty box. Twenty pounds had to be thrown out. There was a wastewater leak at the ice machine, and the equipment was dirty.
King Tut’s Grill, 4132 Martin Mill Pike, score: 61
Meat on the stove was kept at potentially hazardous temperature, toxic items were not properly stored, the dishwasher was not sanitizing and was leaking onto floor. There was no soap or towels at the kitchen hand-sink.
Krystal, 5320 Millertown Pike, score: 65
Barbecue sauce stored at potentially hazardous temperature. An employee touched their face and continued prepping hamburgers. Toxic items were not labeled properly, and the floors and equipment were dirty.
Now, for the good news, we have five restaurants that scored 90 and above this week.
