Another charge against Unicoi Co. Sheriff
The Grand Jury charged Unicoi Co. Sheriff Kent Harris with additional count of Official Misconduct on Thursday based on new evidence presented by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Grand Jury charged Unicoi Co. Sheriff Kent Harris with additional count of Official Misconduct on Thursday based on new evidence presented by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, a TBI spokesperson announced.
Kristin Helm explained Harris is accused of using his county computer in November of 2011 to write letters asking for money to pay his lawyer bills. At the time, Harris was already accused of six counts of Official Misconduct, Theft of over $1,000, Tampering with Evidence, Criminal Situation, and AAttempted Aggravated Assault.
The TBI had been investigating him since September of 2010 at the request of the 1st Judicial District Attorney General's Office.
He is set to appear in court on March 27, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. for the new charge. His trial on the previous charges is set for July.
