MORRISTOWN, Tenn.(WVLT)--Local and federal agents made a big drug bust in Morristown today. Morristown Police along with DEA, ICE, and the ATF raided 2016 Faulkner Road in East Morristown this afternoon.
They seized $15,000 worth of cocaine along with marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Officers arrested 31-year-old Abel Tomas-Silva and charged with Possession of Schedule II (cocaine) for Sale, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Schedule VI (marijuana).
The search warrant was a result of an investigation over several weeks. Agents also found a metal press used for compressing powder cocaine into hard “kilos”.
Lt. Chris Blair with the MPD Narcotics and Vice Unit says that finding a metal kilo press is rare. “This is only the second one we have found as long as I have been in the Narcotics Division”.
Agents believe that Tomas-Silva entered the United States illegally. He is currently being held in the Hamblen County Jail on the narcotics charges and is being detained by ICE.
MPD Chief Roger Overholt stated, “I am pleased that these agents have removed this individual from our community. Without their diligence, Mr. Tomas-Silva would be free to continue his illegal narcotics trade.”
