CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A federal grand jury has indicted a former Clarksville utility chief in what prosecutors say was a kickback scheme.

Charged is Rick R. Ingram Sr. who was formerly president of the Clarksville Department of Electricity, according to The Leaf-Chronicle. Ingram faces 36 counts of wire and mail fraud.

Ingram held the post for only months and was fired in July 2009 after auditors questioned contracts he had established with several companies.

Indictments also were handed up against Tommy L. Walton Sr., who was general manager of a private investigation company and Tommy L. Walton II, who was the owner of a consulting company.

The indictments contend the three worked together to defraud the utility through kickbacks.

It wasn't clear whether Ingram had an attorney.
