NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The car parked along Interstate 40 on Nashville's west side looked like a broken down vehicle. Police were counting on it.
Metro Nashville auto theft detectives were monitoring a global positioning system device on the car and closed in when they noticed it was moving Wednesday afternoon.
They found it not far away in a restaurant parking lot with two men underneath it, trying to remove the fuel tank.
Police arrested 31-year-old William Samuel Wilder of Dickson and 47-year-old Hank Lewis Newsome of Nashville on theft and felony vandalism charges.
Detectives said both have previous property crimes convictions. They were booked into the Davidson County Jail, where records don't show whether inmates have attorneys.
