Weather
Renovated in 2005, the new Burke-Tarr Stadium seats 5,500 fans, including 1,000 seats on the visitor’s side.
The complex meets codes mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act, including aisle handrails, restroom facilities, access ramps and an elevator. There are six entrance/exit tunnels in the new facility.
A main concourse located on the ground level is equipped with two large concession stands, a souvenir area and an information and security booth.
Entrances into the new Burke-Tarr Stadium are user-friendly with a ground-level pedestrian drop-off area at the north entrance, a VIP parking lot on the south end, and paved walkways from the Maddox Student Activities Center. Each entrance is level with the main concourse of the stadium and features architectural elements reminiscent of the campus gates which are located at the intersection of George and College Streets. The stadium features columns which are similar to those at the MSAC and other buildings on campus.
The press box is a state-of-the-art facility which meets the needs of members of the media, guests of the college and game-day administrators. The press box is accessible by two stairwells from the ground level, two entrances from the top of the grandstands, and by elevator. Features include coaching booths for each team, a president’s box and a game operations center. It stretches from the north 30-yardline to the south 30-yardline and is wired with network connections, internet access and other features to assist media covering the games. This area features a panoramic view of Carson-Newman College and much of Jefferson City. The stadium is encircled by an element of brick piers and fencing.
