COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Now that the Iowa causes are over, presidential contenders are looking to upcoming primaries -- including Ohio's.

Former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson was the first Republican to file in the state, and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama was first for the Democrats.

Candidates are systematically meeting today's deadline to get their names on the March 4th primary ballots in Ohio.

Obama filed quickly after his win in Thursday's Iowa caucuses. Only first- and second-place winners are named in the caucuses, but Thompson appeared to be tied in third with McCain.

An Ohio candidate must have 1,000 valid signatures among up to 3,000 submitted from members of his or her own party.
