KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Current Knox County Administrator of Elections Greg Mackay will keep his job, despite the fact that he's a Democrat and that Republicans control the five-member Election Commission that picks the Administrator.
Knox County Election Commission voted 3-2 to keep Mackay, with commissioners Cameron Brooks, Cassandra Stuart and Paul Crilly voting to keep Mackay on the job, Brooks says. Election Commissioners Chris Heagerty -- the body's chairman -- and Bob Bowman both voted against Mackay.
Election Commissioners Brooks and Stuart are the two Democrats on the commission, and Election Commissioners Heagerty, Bowman and Crilly are Republicans.
Brooks says the final choice was narrowed down to Mackay and Scott Frith, a Knoxville Realtor.
