NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee State Senator Paul Stanley is resigning from the legislature after having an affair with 22-year-old intern.
Republican state Sen. Paul Stanley told The Associated Press Tuesday that he will soon break his silence on his affair with a 22-year-old legislative intern that was revealed by an alleged extortion plot.
Stanley said in a text message to AP on Tuesday he had been waiting for his wife to return to Germantown so he could discuss the situation with her.
Stanley's message says he "will be saying something soon."
Court records show the 47-year-old Stanley told agents investigating a blackmail case that he had a sexual relationship with intern McKensie Morrison. Her boyfriend, Joel Watts, is charged with trying to extort $10,000 from Stanley in April in return for photos and a video of the affair.
Republican Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris and Shelby County GOP Chairman Lang Wiseman had called on Stanley to resign.

He should resign, it's bad enough to have an afair but to take pictures is just plain stupid, not someone I would want to run TN government. Bet he also voted "YES" for guns in State parks and restaurants.
