KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - March is National Nutrition Month so on East Tennessee This Morning, we met with Registered Dietitians to gather some tips for you. Here's what we learned:
Starting your day with breakfast is key to a healthy lifestyle. Eating whole grains, fruit and especially protein will keep you full and get you going each day.
Make healthy choices all day long. Granola bars, fruit and nuts are perfect snacks to hold you over between meals.
We've all used the excuse "it's too expensive to eat healthy." Well, it can be cheap if you know how to shop. Buy produce during season and cut and clean it yourself. If you're not into doing all the legwork, buy frozen or canned vegetables. Finally, buy bigger sizes. A larger tub of yogurt will cost less than buying 7 small yogurts.
