KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - More than 1200 students are on their way to Washington D.C. for the annual safety patrol trip. The students keep their classmates safe by patrolling the halls, helping them in and out of cars and taking care of the recycling.
The Washington D.C. trip is a reward to those students for being leaders at their schools. Teachers hope the program will help children grow into responsible citizens.
Over the weekend students will visit the monuments, the National Zoo and the Smithsonian among many other sites.
