(WVLT) - In Consumer Tests and Tips, a new study shows that millions of Americans are becoming more concerned about their exposure to bacteria and viruses in public areas, such as fast food restaurants, restrooms, and convenience stores.

Some stores have hand sanitizer or wipes available. But now, a new company is being hailed for its rare sanitizing system that will keep shopping carts clean from top to bottom.

It's called Pure Cart and looks a little like a shopping cart garage. It sprays a solution onto the carts the company says kills more than 99% of common bacteria. They also say it's safe for people and food.

Customers say the Pure Cart system is making them feel a little bit better about what they or their children might be touching.

"You don't have to worry about them putting their hands in their mouths, eating candy or anything else like that, or if they're eating on something, you don't have to worry about the germs," says Latessa Powell, a shopper at an Arizona grocery store that uses Pure Cart.

The system is also being used at stores in Pennsylvania and Minnesota. To learn more about it, you can call 1-877-200-5010, or you can go to www.PureCartSystems.com.
