Governor Bredesen made a stop in Knoxville Tuesday to mark the signing of the Long-Term Care Community Choices Act of 2008.

The new bill will enable those who qualify for Tenncare, the ability to stay in their homes and receive home health assistance for a greater length of time.

It also expands alternatives to nursing homes for elderly and physically disabled residents.

It allows $1.2 Billion in Tenncare funds to be divided between nursing homes and other home and community-based providers.

Governor Bredesen says, "I think for families this just means some options and some choice, for older people wanting to stay at home, children and grandchildren who are trying to do the best for them and trying to keep them at home if they can, we're gonna give them a lot more options."

By the time the governor signed the bill into passage, virtually every member of the general assembly had signed on in support.

The letter I got this from TennCare said the they would be cutting Home Health care way back. It also said that all the will do is to help you take your Med's and thats all. I'm glad that I can do this on my own; some people are not as luckey.

OSHA ON SECOND HAND SMOKE Air quality test results by Johns Hopkins University, the American Cancer Society, a Minnesota Environmental Health Department, and various researchers whose testing and report was peer reviewed and published in the esteemed British Medical Journal......prove that secondhand smoke is 2.6 - 25,000 times SAFER than occupational (OSHA) workplace regulations: http://cleanairquality.blogspot.com All nullify the argument that secondhand smoke is a workplace health hazard. Especially since federal OSHA regulations trump, or pre-empt, state smoking ban laws which are not based on scientific air quality test results. Mark Wernimont Watertown, MN. US Supreme court decision 1992 NEVER OVERTURNED... A U.S. Supreme court decision during the early 1970's ((Lloyd Corp v. Tanner, 407 U.S. 551 (1992)) said a place of business does not become public property because the public is invited in.
