KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Tennessee Department of Health says two more people in Tennessee have been sickened by the strain of salmonella associated with the FDA's tomato advisory.
The TDOH says both individuals have recovered fully, and are from Middle and West Tennessee. That's where other cases have already been confirmed.
The total number of tomato-related salmonella cases in Tennessee is up to six.
Tennessee is one of the states from which consumers are encouraged to get tomatoes, because no Tennessee-grown produce has been associated with the salmonella outbreak.
Nationwide, the CDC says 650 people in 34 states and the District of Columbia have contracted salmonella from tomatoes.
