NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- The Swine Flu threat seems to be prompting more people to ask Tennessee's health lab to test for
more diseases with less money to do it.
The Tennessean reports that number of cases of whooping cough has more than tripled to 76, so far this year.
But epidemiologists say they're simply doing more tests, there hasn't been a huge outbreak.
The lab also tracks food borne illnesses, pollution levels, and checks babies blood for disease.
But the feds have cut their spending for the lab, $2 million the past seven years.
