NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Alzheimer's Association says 120,000 persons have the disease in Tennessee and the figure is projected to be 140,000 by 2025.

Marcia Massengill, CEO of the Alzheimer's Association Mid South chapter, said it's a major threat for Tennesseans and the nation.

According to a news release from the chapter, family members provide care at home for about 70 percent of those with the disease.

The chapter pledged to maintain local outreach programs that educate the public about the importance of brain health and managing risk factors.
