SOMERSET, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky Congressman Hal Rogers says water levels at Lake Cumberland will be higher next summer, easing strains on local businesses.

Rogers said this week that lake levels could go up by as much as 10 feet as the busy season approaches.

Officials lowered the water line by 43 feet to ease pressure on the leaking Wolf Creek Dam near Jamestown in south central Kentucky.

Rogers says he met with the Corps of Engineers on Thursday. He says repairs at the massive dam are also on track.

Earlier this year the corps said the dam was in danger of failing and could flood as far as downtown Nashville. The dam holds back Lake Cumberland, one of the country's largest reservoirs.
