KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Two left lanes of I-40 westbound near the Gallaher View exit were closed during rush hour Friday, due to hazard caused by a KUB contract worker, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation. The lanes reopened around 5:30 p.m., TDOT says.
TDOT says the pavement on the left lane was elevated as the KUB contract worker was installing a gas line underneath the interstate, forcing two lanes to be closed.
"The damaged asphalt spans about 50 feet in length and approximately 20 feet in width. The damage spans across the left lane and the shoulder," TDOT spokesperson Yvette Martinez said in a news release. "KUB will be responsible for the permanent repairs."
