KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Orange Nation is sounding off on Lane Kiffin's West Coast debut.
The Sports Animal took calls at Alumni Hall in Turkey Creek Friday. The University of Southern California did come away with a win against Hawaii, but it wasn't enough for Lane.
"Really disappointed with everything in general," said Kiffin in an interview following the game.
"Lane Kiffin, I don't know what's going to happen there. I think he's a good football coach, but is he a good head coach at a big program?" said Josh Ward with WNML the Sports Animal.
"To see the coaching staff fail a little bit last night, I think there's a, that's something to kind of make the Tennessee fans happy," said Will West, also a commentator with with radio network.
Kiffin even got ugly on camera. "'We gave them too many chances. We're embarrassed by the way we're playing," said Kiffin in a halftime interview with ESPN. "'What have they been figuring out?'" the reporter asked. "'Nothing,'" Kiffin replied.
"I could care less about Lane Kiffin right now. He's going his own way," said Jim Knox of Loudon.
"He's down at the sewer plant," joked Ramsey Roback while selling tickets on the Cumberland Avenue Strip. This year's season tickets commemorate past coaches, but Kiffin is notably left out.
"Better off. We don't need him around here, don't even need to mention his name."
"We're not even thinking about him anymore. Good riddens. We're on board with Dooley. Just excited. He's bringing us new customers, new excitement," said Brittany Whiteside, an accessories buyer at Alumni Hall.
"Yeah, everyone would rather have a Dooley than that Lame Train," she said. If you, too, are over the Lame Train, you can wear it on your chest.
New tees celebrate Dooley's start. Fans are even trading visors for Dooley's Tilly hat, as a new era in Tennessee football begins.
"It will take a couple of years, but I think after that, we'll move on, and nobody in Knoxville will even know who Lane Kiffin is," said Knox.
