KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Knoxville Police are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital, after he drove away from the scene and flagged down police.
Knoxville Police spokesman Darrell DeBusk says the shots were fired around 1:15 p.m on Bell Street in Austin Homes.
"According to the victim he was in the parking lot of Austin Homes meeting some individuals when he was shot," DeBusk says.
DeBusk says the victim was shot twice, and was able to drive away from the scene.
Around Jackson Ave. in the Old City, DeBusk says the unidentified victime flagged down a police officer. He was taken to UT Medical Center with what police believe are non-life threatening injuries
A short time later, police entered an apartment looking for three men in connection with the shooting.
"A handgun was located inside the apartment," DeBusk says. "The three males in the apartment were detained and transported to the Safety Building to be interviewed."
