Pearl, staff target of NCAA investigation, self-imposed sanctions
University of Tennessee Athletics Director Mike Hamilton says head basketball coach Bruce Pearl's salary will be reduced by 25 percent, and there will be other recruiting penalties, following news of an NCAA investigation into alleged recruiting violations by the coach and his staff.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- University of Tennessee Athletics Director Mike Hamilton says head basketball coach Bruce Pearl's salary will be reduced by 25 percent, and there will be other recruiting penalties, following news of an NCAA investigation into alleged recruiting violations by the coach and his staff.

The compensation reduction amounts to about $1.5 million over the term of Pearl's existing contract. Pay for his assistants was also reduced by 25 percent.

Pearl is also banned from engaging in off-campus recruiting for one year.

The news conference comes less than a day after reports surfaced involving an NCAA investigation into the men's basketball program.

Bruce Pearl is doing a great job especially wth everything that is going on. He has done nothing that others have not done, there has just been an issue of this. I know if you look deep other coaches have done things to. Yes, Leslie if you don't like the color orange leave!

Wow Jo, didnt know this was UT country... this is Gods country, you need to get a grip and a life !!! not everyone backs up the criminals and the crooks of ALL athletics at UT. Speak for yourself.you do wrong you need to pay the price. not just a slap on the hand. Bruce Pearl is a smuck, crooked, and a total jerk.... just wait til he gets caught at other things he is doing !!!!!!! Does anything supprise anyone that happens from Ut anymore? its not breaking news its just something that slipped out....

Yeah, who wants to watch two beautiful female tennis players when we can see a grown man cry like a baby because he got caught doing something wrong? Good job bringing us the real hard news! This is yet another example of UT's corrupt athletics depts and is hardly anything close to "breaking news."
