MONTEAGLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The mayor of Monteagle says his town is now buying all the water its utility sends on to customers.
Mayor Charles Rollins says the city is buying 300,000 to 350,000 gallons per day from neighboring utilities.
The small amount of water left in Laurel Lake is deemed the city's emergency supply.
Even with water use restrictions in place, officials say demand in Monteagle is nearly exceeding supply.
Rollins says there are other lakes from which the town could get raw water, but it's too expensive. Rollins says he's contacted Governor Bredesen's office to see if the state can help.
