KNOXVILLE (WVLT) - It was three years ago Thursday, December 7th, that 21-year-old Johnia Berry was murdered, and on this anniversary of her death, her parents are back in town hosting a toy drive in her honor.
Toys were collected throughout East Tennessee and the Tri-Cities to help needy children this holiday season.
This is a project that was near to Johnia's heart.
Johnia Berry's mother, Joan Berry says, "She loved giving gifts to children and that's what she worked really hard at. That's what she was doing the night she was murdered, she sat in front of the tv that evening and she separated all the toys."
In September, police arrested 22-year-old Taylor Olson for Johnia's murder.
He also faces a number of other charges including aggravated robbery.
Berry was stabbed to death at her Brendan Park apartment on December 7th, 2004.
