KNOXVILLE (WVLT) - Volunteertv.com learned Thursday evening that Clemson offensive coordinator Rob Spence will be in Knoxville Friday to interview for the Vols offensive coordinator opening.

Spence has been the Tigers offensive coordinator for 3 years. He is known for coming up with unique and different formations and plays. Spence has been with Clemson for 3 years after making the move from Toledo in 2005.

Clemson will hold its final practice for their Peach Bowl matchup with Auburn Friday morning.

He's expected to be on a flight to UT by a little after noon.

The Vols offensive coordinator job came open last week when David Cutcliffe announced that he was leaving Tennessee and taking over as the head coach at Duke.

Tennessee wide receivers coach Trooper Taylor announced Wednesday that he is leaving Tennessee and taking over the co-offensive coordinator job at Oklahoma State. Taylor said the move was necessary after he got the feeling that he would not be considered for the Vols offensive coordinator job.

Spence will arrive in Knoxville Friday afternoon. There is no word on when he will return to South Carolina.
