KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) Knoxville mayor Bill Haslam says the city has a new vision for an old parcel of land in a key downtown location.

If all goes well, the old Supreme Court building site will one day become Metropolitan Plaza.

Knoxville mayor Bill Haslam confirmed today at a 3:00 p.m. news conference that the city will begin negotiations with Knoxville developer Nick Cazana to build it. Cazana's company was one of three that submitted proposals for the site.

The project would include retail and office space, a 200 room boutique hotel, and a 450 space parking garage.

The property would also have 25-30 high end condominiums, and a walkway to the Convention Center.

The Supreme Court property is on the city block bordered by Henley, Cumberland, Locust and Church streets.
