KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- The first man set to go to trial in connection with the murders of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom won't go to trial until next year.
A Knox County judge reset Latalvius Cobbins' murder trial to January 26th of next year.
Prosecutors have said Cobbins will be tried first. Unless they change their minds, the other suspects Vanessa Coleman, Lemaricus Davidson, and George Thomas will probably not go to trial until sometime next year.
That will likely mean, Eric Dewayne Boyd's federal trial for allegedly being an accessory to the fatal carjacking that led to the deaths of Christian and Newsom, will be the first trial help in the double murder case.
Boyd does not face murder charges, but could face 30 years in jail if convicted.
Also today, prosecutors announced they will seek the death penalty against Venessa Coleman.
Volunteer TV's Kim Bedford is in the courtroom awaiting more developments.

Unbelievable! The State of Tennessee can prove the guilt of these MONSTERS beyond a reasonable doubt. They have DNA evidence, incriminating recorded conversations, and statements by the defendants implicating one another (no surprise, cowards always turn on one another). What are we waiting for? These MONSTERS are going to hell, and I would like to speed the trip.
I'm from Knoxville, I can't believe there isn't JUSTICE back home! Total crap! Haul em' outta jail and let the people of Knoxville take their own JUSTICE our on those worthless animals.
The "accused" have likely been living off "taxpayers" their entire lives. I am willing to wait and make sure that each of the "accused" get a "fair" trial; so that the results of the trials will not have to be overturned later. It would not upset me if; the "accused" are sentenced to DEATH if convicted. I belive the world would be a much better place if that sentence was carried out. One could never do to these "accused" what was done to Channon and Christopher; because they Channon and Christopher are two very beatiful, lovely innocent people; and the persons that hurt them are not.
