Knoxville (WVLT) - Knoxville Police are investigating an overnight murder that happened in the Western Heights community.

Investigators say around 3:00 this morning, Derick Keith, 28, knocked on the door at the Western Heights Apartment Complex on Jourolman Avenue and told the resident he had been shot.

Keith was taken to UT Medical Center where he later died.

Investigators say they believe Keith and the suspect knew each other.
