WALLAND, Tenn (WVLT) -- One person is dead after a school bus collided with a bus in a chain reaction crash that involved four vehicles in Blount County.
The crash happened around 5:00 p.m. on Highway 321 near the Walland Center.
Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers say northbound van had slowed to turn into a driveway off 321, when a school bus also headed northbound tried to go around the van and slammed into a southbound black Honda.
A woman driving the Honda was airlifted to U.T. Medical Center but died en route to the scene, according to troopers. Her name has not been released.
An SUV driver drove off of the road trying to avoid the initial collision. That driver was taken to Blount Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The two people in the van were not injured. The bus driver also was not injured. There were no students on board the bus at the time of the collision.
