KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- A newly appointed Knox County Commissioner says she's heard from countless constituents regarding the Knox County P-card audit.
But Knox County Mayor Mike Ragsdale wants her to prove it.
Mayor Ragsdale's office has made a formal open records request seeking the correspondence Commissioner Victoria DeFreese says she's received.
But DeFreese says those communications are privileged and protected by constitutional free speech rights, saying she was surprised when she got the letter.
A spokesman for the mayor says all they want to do is send copies of Ragsdale's audit response to the citizens DeFreese says have contacted her and they do not plan to take any legal action against her.
