KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Trial testimony is giving us new details from inside the East Knoxville home where prosecutors say a young couple was raped, tortured, and murdered.
Eric DeWayne Boyd is not charged with those crimes but he is charged with helping hide one of the suspects.
After surviving the defense motion for a mistrial this morning, prosecutors continue calling witnesses.
None may prove more important than murder suspect Lemaricus Davidson's girlfriend, Daphne Sutton, who Boyd's lawyers say should have been charged as an accessory but never was.
Perhaps only one person spent time in the Chipman Street home during the first weekend of 2007 without either winding up dead or charged with a crime. That person is was Lemaricus Davidson's girlfriend, Daphne Sutton. This afternoon, she told jurors about the few minutes she spent in the house on the fateful Sunday afternoon.
After being dropped off by her friend, Sutton says she was met at the door by Davidson. She claims he had called to let her know she could come over in 30 minutes to pick up some of her belongings from the home they had shared for months. She recalled her encounter with the three men and one woman who were later charged with the murders of Channon Christian,21, and Christopher Newsom, 23.
She said, "Lemaricus followed me in. When I walked in, Letalvis was straight ahead, twiddling his thumbs. He didn't really look at me, he just looked down."
She also said that "G", a nickname for George Thomas, was in the chair beside the entertainment center, rolling a blunt, a slang name for a marijuana cigarrette.
Finally, she told jurors, "I went to get me makeup and perfume out of the bathroom. As soon as I went to the bathroom door, Lemaricus grabbed me and said 'what are you doing?' I said is Vanessa in there? He said yes."
Prosecutors say Christian was likely being held in the bathroom at that time.
Sutton says Davidson spent Monday night with her at a friend's apartment.
On cross examination, Boyd's lawyer got her to admit that she lied to police for hours when they questioned her, hindering their investigation.
She insists she did not really know Davidson had committed a crime, even though she told police she would not have been surprised if Davidson was involved in a robbery because "that's what he does".
