LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- The father of 18-year-old Connie Blount says Lexington Police have impounded a truck matching the description of the vehicle that killed his daughter.
UK Freshman Connie Blount from Park City, Utah was killed early Sunday morning, when police say the 18-year-old was hit by a pick-up truck that kept going at Maxwell and South Broadway streets.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. Blount was pronounced dead just hours later at UK hospital.
"It's devastating, unbelievable, it's just so surreal right now," said Callie Schott, a good friend of Blount.
Schott believes Blount was just heading home when she was hit. The driver of the truck, police say, never stopped and kept driving.
"It's sickening, who ever did this needs to turn themselves in," said Meghan Blackburn, a good friend of Blount's.
The Utah native, we're told, came to Lexington and UK because of her passion and love for horses. The 18-year-old was a skilled rider and member of the UK equestrian team.
"She was so talented and loved by everyone, she had such a full and bright future ahead of her," said Christina Lawton, a good friend of Blount.
Lawton, along with Schott and Blackburn, are pleading with the driver to come forward.
"We understand it was probably a very scary thing and maybe the person just got scared and didn't know what to do, but, they have to know how much Connie's loss hurts," said Blackburn.
A witness told police the vehicle is described as a light colored Chevrolet extended cab pickup. If you have any information, you are urged to call police.
