KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Some KUB customers were still without power Monday afternoon as clean-up continued from Sunday's winds.
At one point, there were 16,000 reported customers in the dark.
By Monday afternoon , KUB still had to restore power to about 700 homes.
Trees snapped and fell across power lines and roads, and it's what many residents had to deal with over the weekend.
A large tree fell on a family's van in North Knoxville on Rifle Range Road. It busted the windows, but, luckily, no one was injured.
KUB officials say they had reports of trees down all across Knox County and into surrounding counties.
Many trees fell on power lines, and in some instances, the power polls were also snapped in two.
KUB crews were called in Sunday and worked around the clock tyring to restore power to everyone.
KUB Spokesperson Jennifer Fern says, "We had a lot of very high winds that did cause quite a bit of damage throughout the service area. The majority of the outages are in South Knoxville, but we do have it scattered throughout Knox County, and even into a couple of the other surrounding counties where we provide electric service."
KUB says they'll continue to work around the clock until everyone has power.
