KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knoxville Police Department and Drug Enforcement Administration agents have busted a drug organization operating out of a South Knoxville club, court records show.

Brothers Jose Medina and Miguel Martinez own the Los Arcos Dance Club and Billiards on Chapman Highway, and an affidavit obtained by Volunteer TV says they were running a major marijuana and cocaine operation out of the business that moved more than 1000 Kilograms of pot, and more than 5 kilograms of cocaine between December 2007 and May 2008.

Court documents indicate that Medina is the leader of one of three distinct branches of the organization, and his brother would maintain the finances of the the illegal dealings. The drug money was then used to run the club, according to the affidavit.

The scheme apparently used at least one "stash house" to store the dope.

About 7,000 pounds of marijuana and more than 160 pounds of cocaine were seized by investigators, according to the Knoxville News-Sentinel.

The paper also reports that number of guns, including machine guns, were were found at a "stash house" on Asheville Highway.

Investigators taped phone conversations and used confidential informants in the investigation. Officers executed a search warrant at Los Arcos Dance Club and Billiards on May 11, 2008 where they found a shotgun in a Martinez's vehicle.

Medina, Martinez, and a number of other suspects face federal charges of drug trafficking, money laundering, and fire arms possession during a drug trafficking crime.

Why bother giving them federal charges? Now we are just store housing them, feeding them, etc. Why were they not deported? I think if you are here the LEGAL way and you are here to give your family a better life and work and pay taxes and be responsible then Bienvenidos. If you are here to cause trouble, sell drugs and be welfare trash, go back to Mexico. We all have to pull our weight in society. What these people did is hop the border looking to score easy money, HOWEVER, they are smart because they KNOW the products they came with are in high demand and they were making good money obviously so REALLY it wasnt all their fault. People are adults and make their own choices... These people were bad to supply it, the junkies were just as bad for buying it.

O.K. how much are US citizens going to be forced to put up with? we pay to send their kids to school, give them medical care, they take our jobs, bring us drugs to destroy our families, drive without legal drivers, they kill our people, and themselves, and oh please make me stop!!!! I researched these people for a college paper, and the general population dosen't know the half of what these people have done to our United States. It cost each and every taxpayer to keep these people hear,To the tune of billions each year. It has forced hospitals to close because of illegals flooding the system they do not pay, our children sit in crowded class rooms with children that can not speak english, resulting in less time for the teacher teaching our chilren, that we pay to send to school. It really does not help when businesses hire these people for cheap labor. I thought it was illegal to hire them in the first place. What is all of this saying to the American people??

What are they (the Authorities) going to do with them? Most of them are probably Illegal Immigrants! They will be back on the streets before you know it! What a Shame: (

Come on it's great that they busted these guys but is not only illegals that are doing this. Take a ride around town and you will see it all over blacks, whites, hispanics why does everything always have to be racial!!! Let's face it there is a wide spread problem and I am glad that they made this bust. Please leave the racial issues to rest, grow up and realize it's society good and bad in every race, creed, or religion!!

great job! Hope this bust spills over to rid the other operators along chapman hwy. they've taken over the center across from Berry's funeral home & the vacant center at young high pike & chapman. Enough pressure on these thugs & they'll move out of knox county. thanks DEA & FBI!!

I thought that big busts like this only happened in major crime ridden cities like New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, & Atlanta. I commend the undercover officers and other detectives that built this case against these low life thugs to remove them from our streets! I guess it's just a coincidence that most of them are hispanic huh?! That ought to tell you something!

If the police would help us. We could keep a bunch of the violence down in this neighborhood. And then these people would not be getting shot, stabbed or beat up.

About time! I know a security company that worked as bouncers there that the owners removed after the security company kept ousting drug users inside of the club. Good for the FBI and DEA.
