KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The manager of the Wendy's on North Broadway in North Knoxville was shot in the arm as she tried to run away from an armed robber in the parking lot of the restaurant early Friday morning, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Knoxville Police Lieutenant Greg Hoskins says one of the store managers was already in her vehicle after closing the restaurant when an armed black man tried to rob her.

She tried to run, but he shot her in the arm and dragged her back into the restaurant, according to Lt. Hoskins.

Hoskins says the suspect then took money out of some bags, directed the wounded manager to get into a walk-in freezer before he took off.

The woman was taken to UT Medical Center with what police describe as non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a 5' 8" black man with a small build. He was wearing gray gloves, a scarf, and a knit hat.

Anyone with information should call the Knoxville Police Department.
