GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Federal authorities are searching in Greeneville for a federal inmate who was mistakenly released from the Washington County Detention Center in Jonesborough.
Supervisory Deputy Warren Mays of the U.S. Marshal Service's Eastern District of Tennessee told The Greeneville Sun on Thursday that 38-year-old Brian Lee Rogers has previously lived in both Greeneville and Johnson City.
Rogers was sentenced in October to 130 months in prison for having a firearm as a convicted felon.
Mays said it isn't clear how the mistake was made that resulted in Rogers' release on Wednesday.
The marshal said Rogers should be considered dangerous because of a history of violence and firearms violations.
