Knoxville Police Department has reported a prisoner who had escaped from police custody Wednesday morning has been recaptured.

At approximately 5:53 a.m., Kristi L. Hensley, 35, was being transported to the Knox County Detention Facility when she complained of being sick, according to officers.

The officer rolled down the rear window of the cruiser about two inches, and Hensley was able to open the car door from the outside, police say.

The incident happened at the corner of Washington Pike and Maloneyville Road.

Police say she then jumped out of the moving vehicle and fled eastbound on Washington Pike.

At 8:26 a.m., the Knox County Sheriff's Department received a call about a suspicious person on Bud McMillian Road.

Hensley was taken back into custody without incident.

She had been arrested for public intoxication and criminal impersonation.

She will now be charged with felony fleeing.

KPD must really be incompetent people for a little girl, that is drunk, and unarmed to be such a major capture. I found the KPD to egomaniacs that believe themselves to be really something. Amazing that they look for any excuse to use their stun guns when the majority of the time it's just that they are to lazy to chase a little girl down. Must not be much to report when reporters get all the facts screwed up. Missed it by a mile on this one. There were NO felony charges. Check your story out before you print it. Amazing how slow KPD is. They are always looking for confrontation and tend to forget that THEY ARE Public servants. They tend to believe they are above the LAW themseleves and can do anything they want negating any since of Humanity in dealing with others.Blount County officers are of the same mold. Most should be FIRED and Replaced. Someone needs to educated them that the first to fight is the first to run out of ideas. They need to pocket their ego to be affective.
