KNOXVILLE (WVLT) -- Thousands gathered to toast and boast for charity on Saturday evening in World’s Fair Park.
The 12th Annual Knoxville Brewers Jam featured beers from 30 different breweries around the world.
For the last seven years, proceeds from the event have been donated to Community Shares, a charity similar to the United Way that works at the legislative level to help the less fortunate.
"We’re at the grass roots, trying to change legislation and getting to the root cause of problems,” said Kris Lutz, coordinator of the Knoxville Brewers Jam. “There is definitely a need for both because you have to help people that need it. We're hoping to help fix some of the problems.”
Ticket sales to the event were capped for the first time in the event’s history. Organizers expected about 4,000 to attend.
