SANTA CLAUS, Ind. (AP) -- The grandsons of two of the more famous men to don Santa Claus suits are meeting tomorrow in the southern Indiana town of Santa Claus to sign and dedicate a newly created oath for the jolly gift-givers.
It was 70 yewars ago that famed Macy's Day Parade Santa Charles Howard of Albion, New York, and Jim Yellig, who became known as the "Real Santa" from Santa Claus, met 70 years ago at the Depression-era tourist attraction Santa's Candy Castle in the town about 35 miles east of Evansville.
The Evansville Courier and Press reports that tomorrow, during a ceremony at a refurbished Candy Castle, Howard's grandson, Charles Bergeman, and Will Koch, the grandson of Yellig, will be the first to sign the document drafted by a Chicago-area Santa Claus.
The oath also will be administered to every Santa attending a convention in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, next March.
The oath sets guidelines for all who portray St. Nick.
