Tennessee sheriff cited for hunting without license
A sheriff from northeastern Tennessee faces managed to bag a deer and a citation for hunting without a license in one trip into the woods.

TAZEWELL, Tenn. (AP) -- A sheriff from northeastern Tennessee faces managed to bag a deer and a citation for hunting without a license in one trip into the woods.
Claiborne County Sheriff David Ray received the misdemeanor citation along with two other men after a hunting trip on Nov. 25. The citation is for a misdemeanor charge of hunting without a license after he shot a deer on the county fairgrounds property. near the Powell Valley Electric Cooperative office in New Tazewell.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency citation says one of the other men also shot a deer.
The citations were issued Monday, after TWRA officials conferred with 8th District Attorney General Paul Phillips.
The 62-year-old sheriff could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
